Mine Development
- Shaft Sinking, Equipping, Repair and Refurbishment
Harrison Western offers unmatched experience and proven cost effective solutions for the construction, refurbishing and repairing of hundreds of shafts making them safer and more cost efficient. We have dealt with difficult geological situations including water control and have sunk shafts from shallow depths of 700 feet to over 3000 feet.
- Mine Development and Underground Construction
Mine design and development, a specialty of Harrison Western, includes the excavation and support of declines, inclines, cross-cuts, raises and coal mine slope development.
- Underground Roof Support and Specialized Underground Construction
Harrison Western is capable of installing any support necessary in any typical mining situation (including rock bolts, timber sets and steel sets) as well as constructing difficult concrete support systems. Expertise includes the installation of roof bolts, which may be required in dome-type salt mines and other extremely high excavations.
- Underground Water Control and Grouting
When heavy water in geological formations threatens to hinder shaft sinking and underground excavation, Harrison Western can install reliable pumping systems and use cement and chemical grouting. High pressure bulkheads can also be constructed to seal off large quantities of water.
Mine Construction
Harrison Western has experience with surface construction including headframes, hoisting facilities, shaft collars, portals and other structures. Underground, our experience includes ground stabilization, conveyance systems, inclines and full mechanical and electrical system installations.
- Mechanical and Electrical Installation
We can provide a complete package of mine-related service. Harrison Western also offers the installation of mechanical and electrical facilities, including the installation of high-volume ore chute mechanisms, conveyors and other production transportation systems in underground mines.

When unstable rock and other geological elements pose significant risks to large-scale infrastructure projects, Harrison Western can install any rock support that may be required. Rock support can be provided in all geological conditions and can include anchors, bolts, cable bolts and other infrastructure support system construction.
